Start with clean hair. Towel-dried hair gives the wettest, glossiest finish, while dry hair gives more grip. Scoop a small amount from the jar and rub it between your palms so it loosens, then work it through the hair from root to tip. Comb back for a slick finish, push it forward for a defined fringe, or sculpt curls with your fingers. Restyle later in the day with slightly damp fingers - it does not dry hard or flake.

Water carries everything; ceteareth-20 and ceteareth-25 turn it into a clear gel with enough slip to spread from root to tip without grabbing. Glycerin, propylene glycol and dipropylene glycol slow that drying down just enough that you have time to shape the hair before the film sets, and they keep the finished film flexible rather than brittle, so it bends instead of flaking. Phenoxyethanol with caprylyl glycol keeps the water phase clean, and disodium EDTA stops hard-water minerals clouding the gel.
